Miller Milling Plant Manager Joins CA Wheat Commission
Damon Sidles, plant manager from Miller Milling in Fresno has been appointed by the California Secretary of Agriculture to serve as Alternate
Public Member on the California Wheat Commission Board.
Mr. Sidles is from central Kansas and earned a BS degree in Milling Science & Management at Kansas State University. His career began as Head Miller with ConAgra, working in several states, including Minnesota, Illinois, Oklahoma and Alabama. He joined Miller Milling in July of 1997 in the capacity of shift miller and was promoted to plant manager in the summer of 2000. In addition to working with the California Wheat Commission (CWC), he serves on the Technical Committee of the International Association of Operative Millers and is Director of the Golden West District of that organization.
As a member of the CWC Board, Mr. Sidles works with its Commissioners to promote California's wheat and durum crops. Since its establishment in 1983, the CWC has supported targeted research to continually improve California wheat quality through wheat breeding programs and statewide field trials at the University of California, Davis. The Commission also works to develop and maintain domestic and international markets for California wheat. The eighteen member Commission Board is key in setting policies and programs that support these goals.
